John F. Kennedy: A President with A Different Sense Of Confidence One of President John Kennedy’s famous quotes was, â€Å"A man may die, nations may rise and fall, but an idea lives on† (Brainy Quotes), and as the 35th president of the United States, his ideas for the country are still living on. Not only Kennedy was extremely liked by people, he was also rated above the majority of presidents America had, with the exception of Abraham Lincoln and George Washington. Basically, what really captured the hearts of people about Kennedy was his glamour, the sense of confidence that he had, and of course his tragic death. Kennedy met with his advisors secretly because apparently he wanted to finish his hard job secretly at first. After several days of meetings, Kennedy decided to send a naval blockade around Cuba to block more military supplies from coming in. After that, he demanded the removal of all the nuclear sites on the island and spoke to the country about the crisis in a televised address. After the negotiations between Kennedy and Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev, both leaders agreed that a nuclear war is not the right choice to take at the mean time. Nuclear sites were removed and the U.S. in exchange pledged not to occupy Cuba. Kennedy also tried and succeeded at getting relations warmed between his country and the Soviet Union, which was a smart move of his own. Trying to be revolutionary on other presidents’ relationship with their people, Kennedy talked to his people like a father talks to his children to explain what he did and said, â€Å"For, in the final analysis, our most basic common link is that we all inhabit this small planet. We all breathe the same air. We all cherish our children s future. And we are all mortal. ( â€Å"World on the Brink: John F. Kennedy and the Cuban Missile Crisis†). Kennedy faced several foreign challenges that came from different directions with his smart revolutionary thinking, chose to expand the U.S. space program rather than sidelining it, and he also aimed for stimulating common understanding between Americans and people from other nations. John F Kennedy came from a wealthy Irish Catholic family that was known for banking and liquor trading. Based on this, he was raised on the idea that you have to win.
